Whilst sipping a $1 iced tea with free refills at this newly remodelled McDonald’s I took a fancy to the spiffy chairs there. They have a not unpleasant plastic finish and, more importantly, an iconic curvy bottle imprinted on their backside. It is of course the silhouette of a Coca-Cola bottle known to fans and dentists everywhere. I looked up the name stamped on the chair, Emeco, and discovered The 111 Navy Chair. It is made from 111 recycled PET plastic bottles, based on the aluminum chairs built by Emeco and placed on U.S. submarines starting in 1944. Nice.
